King of Beauty Sells Kent Mansion for a Bargain $8.5M

Avon makes you beautiful and buys the president a mansion, that he's sold at a discount.

The man responsible for making women feel beautiful sold his Kent mansion for a sweet $8.5 million, which is actually a bargain.

James Preston, who ran Avon Products from 1988 to 1998 made the sell after lowering the price from the previous offer of $14 million, the Wall Street Journal reports, Even at the reduced rate, it's believed to be the highest sale in Litchfield County to date in 2010, according to the Waterbury Republican-American

That's not a bad deal for the buyer, considering the five-bedrooms 8,500 square foot Colonial home is surrounded by 398 acres, including a tennis court, pool house and barns. It also has a mountain side view.

The property is 33 Nodine Pasture Road, the Republican-Americam reportsIt's only about 100 miles north of Manhattan and spills into New York state, the Journal reports. 

Preston, who held the posts of chairman and chief executive at the direct cosmetics seller, declined to comment to the Journal.
