The number of housing permits in Connecticut are up a bit, according to the state's economic development agency.

In the last month, 386 permits were issued in the 125 cities and towns the state Department of Economic and Community Development tracks.

The figure represents a 34 percent increase over the 288 issued in August, but is still about 17 percent below the 463 issued in September 2007.

Statewide, Stamford issued the most permits in September with 84, followed by East Windsor with 22.
