8/28-8/30: Woodstock, Reach and the D-List

WOODSTOCK – AGAIN: This Woodstock Fair is considerably older (celebrating its 149th year) and will probably involve fewer illegal drugs.  The fair is billed as “a harvest celebration, a homecoming, an institution of it’s very own”.

REACHING FOR REACH: Earth, Wind & Fire are headlining the Reach Music Festival at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center Saturday.  The Little River Band, Max Creek and others will be their guests.  Proceeds benefit children’s charities.  General admission tickets are less than $30.

STRINGS ATTACHED:  A live performance off Charlie Parker’s famous “Charlie Parker with Strings” will get an encore Saturday afternoon at the Riverfront Stage in Hartford.  The tribute by Percussionist Gene Bozzi, a classical string quartet plus a jazz quartet, is expected to draw hundreds to the water.  Get your swing on.  4 PM.

ANTIQUING TIME: The Madison Green will be turned into an enormous antiques mall during the day Saturday.  Featuring more than 90 exhibitors and a sidewalk café, it will be one of the trendiest places to be seen.  Admission: $6.  (Details and a discount coupon can be found here.)  9 AM – 4 PM.

LAUGHTER FROM THE D-LIST:  The outrageous Kathy Griffin is bringing her antics (and we use that word affectionately) to the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford Sunday night. Offensive? You bet. Pompous? Certainly. Typical Kathy? Precisely.  8 PM.
