Mystic Aquarium’s penguins have been busy working on their art.
The African penguins have created 50 original paintings that are on sale at the aquarium store and online at mysticaquarium.org.
The penguins create the paintings by waddling over the canvas with nontoxic paint on their feet.
Aquarium officials said that, for the African penguins, this is actually a form of enrichment.
Once the penguins are finished with their masterpieces, the 16-inch-by-20-inch paintings are double matted and framed.
The penguin paintings come in two different color combinations: red, blue and green and purple, blue and green.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each painting goes toward the aquarium’s penguin conservation efforts here and across the world.
