Swap Your Old Clothes for New in West Hartford

What's Old is New Again in Blue Back Square

West Hartford's Blue Back Square is bringing back its Spring Swap and Shop Fashion Fair for a second year.  The event features fabulous designer items an you can get hair, makeup and healthy lifestyle tips.

"Most women only wear 20 percent of their wardrobe 80 percent of the time, so this is a chance for all bargainistas to purge some of the unused clothing and accessories cluttering their closet, and swap it for something more suitable, valuable and wearable to their personal style," said Barbara Lerner, project marketing manager for Blue Back Square. "With the help of some of our Blue Back Square merchants, we'll be providing a total fashion makeover inside and out!"

Each participant will have the opportunity to bring up to three gently used or never worn clothing, shoe, handbag and jewelry items in exchange for a maximum of two tickets to be used in the swap.

All traded items are then categorized into chic (for sale or inexpensive items), moderate (average price points) and couture (expensive) design racks.

Each shopper will then receive a color-coded ticket to swap within the category in which her items were entered.

The event also benefits Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Since 1997, Dress for Success has helped almost 450,000 women find jobs and remain employed around the world.

The Spring Swap and Shop Fashion Fair is Thursday, May 20 from 6 p.m. to 8:30pm on the main pergola outside of Barnes & Noble Booksellers.
