Unionville Man Dies in I-95 Crash

A 56-year-old Unionville man was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 southbound in Orange on Wednesday morning.

Authorities said a state worker was killed when a tractor-trailer and construction vehicle collided just before 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

Anthony Diorio was traveling in an excavator southbound in the center lane of I-95 on Wednesday morning when the raised boom arm of his vehicle hit the Quarry Road overpass, police said.

The bucket moved into the left lane, striking a truck traveling next to the excavator. The truck driver skidded and swerved to avoid Diorio's vehicle, but stuck it, police said.

Diorio was ejected from his vehicle, the trucked jackknifed and struck Diorio, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Diorio caused the crash and the case is under investigation.
