Customers Say SaveMore.com Never Delivered Gift Cards

Consumers in Connecticut are joining more than 1,500 others across the nation.

Consumers in Connecticut are joining more than 1,500 others across the nation who are complaining about an online retail business accused of bad business practices.

SaveMore.com is a Texas-based company that offered daily deals to its customers.  The website is no longer accessible.

Theodore Bartkoski of Rocky Hill told the NBC Connecticut Troubleshooters he was looking for a birthday present for his girlfriend in late 2011 when he purchased a gift card from SaveMore.com.

But there was a problem. He said the gift card never arrived.

"I waited. Tried to call back. Couldn't get a response from anybody," Bartkoski said.

Christina Wall of New Britain purchased two gift cards at about the same time. She needed a Christmas present for a family member.

Wall's purchases from SaveMore.com did not arrive, either.

"We didn't have anything to give them at Christmas because we were waiting on these gift cards in the mail," Wall said.

SaveMore.com's Addision, Texas location appeared vacant and no one was around when NBC Connecticut sister station KXAS' cameras arrived.

The online retailer is facing 1,581 customer complaints with the Better Business Bureau. The Texas Attorney General has also received 126 complaints about SaveMore.com. Hundreds more complaints about the business can be found on consumer websites like Ripoff Report, Scambook, Complaints Board and Site Jabber.

Consumers complain about poor customer service, difficulty with refunds and problems cancelling accounts. There is also a Facebook page dedicated to customers who can't stand SaveMore.com.

According to BBB files, the owner of the company that manages SaveMore.com is Doug Van Arsdale, who runs Credit Solutions of America. The debt relief business has been sued by several states for failing to deliver on debt relief promises. Connecticut's attorney general is also looking into Credit Solutions of America, although the office declined to give details.

NBC Connecticut tried contacting SaveMore.com and Credit Solutions of America with no luck.

However, if you purchased something from SaveMore.com and never received it, your credit card company may be able to help you find relief. The BBB said a little research before handing over a credit card online can prevent these kinds of problems you are hearing about.
