A bill that would increase the amount of information police have to share about the arrests they make is moving forward.
Last year, the state Supreme Court ruled that officers only have to disclose the bare minimum when it comes to sharing arrest records – information such as the name of the person arrested, his or her address and the charges that person faces.
But House Bill 6750 would expand those requirements.
The state legislature's Government Administration and Elections Committe voted 8-5 Monday evening to send House Bill 6750 to the floor of the House for debate. The bill would expand the amount of information police are required to share when someone is arrested.
