Thursday AM Weather Update

A flood watch is in effect for the NE part of Connecticut, in Windham County. So far about .50"-.75" of rain has fallen and we expect more throughout the day today and into tonight.

Periods of rain will continue throughout the day with high temps seasonal in the low 50s and upper 40s. The steadiest or heaviest rain will fall in eastern CT and the least in NW CT.

A slow moving cold front and a developing and deepening area of low pressure will bring waves of rain to the state and strong gusty winds Friday and Saturday. A few flakes could be possible on the backside of this system in places that can cool down before the rain moves out. Winter accumulation isn't expected.

We have moved into second place for all time wet March's on record. Do we get an award?

This March has also been quite mild with many of the days so far seeing above average temps!

We do look to dry things out with a mix of clouds and sunshine for the Easter Weekend. Some data is supporting a few showers early Sunday morning (Easter) with some clearing in the afternoon. We are waiting for more data before making big changes to the forecast.

It will turn breezy again this weekend with wind gusts on Friday night and Saturday between 25-35+ mph.

Have a great week!
