3 more Huskies Headed to All-Star Games

We'll admit to being somewhat surprised when UConn tight end Ryan Griffin wasn't invited to the Senior Bowl. Teammates, Trevardo Williams, Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Dwayne Gratz will all be in Mobile, Ala., later this month in what amounts to a week-long NFL job interview but Griffin, along with several other seniors, was left on the outside looking in.

Until now. According to the Hartford Courant's Desmond Conner, Griffin has been invited to play in the first-ever Raycom College Football All-Star Classic, which will also take place in Mobile, a week before the Senior Bowl. Senior linebacker Jory Johnson was also invited.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Mike Smith, will play in the Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Game in Allen, Texas on February 2 (the Saturday after the Senior Bowl and the day before the Super Bowl).

No word on whether Griffin has accepted but the New Haven Register's Jim Fuller notes that more Senior Bowl invitees were to be announced Wednesday afternoon.

Over the summer, we listed UConn's top-5 prospects as identified by NFLDraftScout.com's Rob Rang. Seven months later and not much has changed:

1. TE Ryan Griffin
2. OLB Sio Moore
3. CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson
4. CB Dwayne Gratz
5. DE/OLB Trevardo Williams

The glaring omission from postseason all-star games remains linebacker Sio Moore, one of the Huskies' best players.
