That didn't take long. Shortly after Crystal Dangerfield was on hand for UConn's First Night, the 5-5 junior point guard from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, made an oral commitment to Geno Auriemma's program. She becomes the first recruit in the Huskies' 2016 class.

“Coach Auriemma knew what I wanted in a school and UConn has it,” Dangerfield said, via SNY.com's Carl Adamec. “They want to win as much as I do.

“I wasn’t sure if I would commit when I was there. It depended on how I felt and if I figured things out and it was right. When I told the coaches we went around giving each other hugs and they were very excited. It was a great feeling. Another thing is now I can really focus on my last two high school seasons.”

Dangerfield, rated as the No. 3 prospect in the '16 class, according to ESPN, is also Auriemma's first recruit from Tennessee.

“I remember watching UConn and Tennessee play when I was seven and eight years old and I felt even then that UConn would be a great place to play,” Dangerfield said. “I had half the people saying I should go to Tennessee and the other half saying I should go to UConn.”

Dangerfield averaged 14.5 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.9 steals and helped Blackman High to a 34-1 record and the Tennessee Class 3A state championship. She set single-season records for points in her first two years and was named Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year after her sophomore season.
