Interestingly, Richard Lagow, a quarterback from Texas, didn't fax his letter of intent. Lagow committed to UConn early in the process and seemed surprised by the additions of Boyle and Kivon Taylor.

"Right now I am confused and I need to talk things over and figure out what I want to do with my family," Lagow told the Harftord Courant's Desmond Conner by text message. "That's where my head is." Lagow had no other scholarship offers and Conner reports that the quarterback will make a decision on his future this week.

Meanwhile, coach Paul Pasqualoni spoke about the decision to add depth at quarterback.

"Obviously excited to have Timmy Boyle come to the University of Connecticut to play here in this stadium as we are the other in-state players," the coach said. "Timmy coming from Xavier, this will be the third Xavier player we have on our team [joining Florida transfer Graham Stewart and Sean Marinan Jr]. Great program, state championship program. Timmy is 6-4. His growth potential is excellent. His skill set excellent. His passion for the game, his focus, commitment. … You hope your quarterback demonstrates those characteristic. That kind of profile is very, very important at every position — but critical at the quarterback position.

"We made a decision in the summer we were going to take quarterbacks. I can't make any comments on [Lagow] but we wanted to sign two. Kivon is another dual-sport player, plays basketball as well. He's a tall guy. He's got excellent potential so we're excited to have two quarterbacks in this class."
