UConn Forward Rakim Lubin to Transfer

SMU’s Yanick Moreira, right, is guarded by Connecticut’s Rakim Lubin during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game in the finals of the American Athletic Conference tournament in Hartford, Conn., on Sunday, March 15, 2015.

University of Connecticut forward Rakim Lubin has announced plans to transfer at the end of the spring semester.

The 6-foot-8, 260-pound freshman played sparingly for the Huskies, who finished a disappointing 20-15 and lost in the first round of the NIT.

Lubin appeared in 24 games, averaging one point and 1.2 rebounds per game.

The departure will leave the Huskies with just three returning frontcourt players -- Amida Brimah, Phil Nolan and Kentan Facey.
