Joan Rivers Re-Lists Opulent Penthouse for $29.5M

Joan Rivers's first attempt to sell her elegant Upper East Side penthouse for $25 million back in 2009 failed, so she decided to wait a couple of years, gussy it up, and re-list with a significantly higher price tag of $29.5 million, according to Curbed.

Only time will tell whether her unconventional strategy will work (the outspoken Rivers is all about going against the grain), but New York City has recently experienced a slew of high-priced sales, including the record-breaking sale of a $88 million penthouse, so perhaps the Brooklyn-native is on to something after all.

Rivers's penthouse is located at East 62nd Street in the Spencer Condominium building. Enter the unit through a private elevator into the entry hall that features a dramatic two-story gallery. The entertainment spaces include a sun-drenched living room with 23-foot-high ceilings and a wood-burning fireplace, as well as a formal dining room decked out with ornate 18th century French panels. The glam residence boasts four bedrooms and five bathrooms, as well as a south-facing terrace that offers some amazing views of Manhattan and Central Park.

According to the listing, Rivers's penthouse has been "painstakingly restored," which, err, the cosmetic-surgery-loving Rivers is certainly no stranger to herself.
