David and Goliath Getting the Action Movie Treatment

David and Goliath are going to be getting the "300" treatment, courtesy of the guy who directed "The Exorcism of Emily Rose."

Scott Derickson will be helming "Goliath," based on everyone's favorite Biblical underdog, for Relativity Media, the studio behind the spectacle that was "300."

A script by John D. Payne and Patrick McKay will be given "a modern vibe that harkens to the spirit of films such as "300" and "The Bourne Identity," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For those of you who haven't read 1 Samuel, chapter 17 in the Bible lately, David was put on the path to be king of Israel when he fired a his slingshot and hit the "giant" Goliath (by some accounts he was only about 6'5") in the middle of the forehead, killing him during a fierce battle in the Valley of Elah.

The story of "Goliath" is to center on the giant's quest to hunt down the future king of Israel, with an epic chase scene leading to their fateful showdown, reported Variety. The epic battle had better be preceded by David's great line from the Bible:

“This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down, and cut off your head; and I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that God saves not with sword and spear; for the battle is God’s, and he will give you into our hand.”

Is there any chance we can get Samuel L. Jackson to recite this line?
