FX Whiz John Dykstra Helming "Super Zero"

The man who helped make "Star Wars," "Caddyshack" and "Inglorious Basterds" in career spanning nearly 40 years is finally getting to take a ride in the director's chair.

John Dykstra, whose most recent film, "X-Men: First Class," won its opening weekend, will direct "Super Zero," an adaptation of Jeff Lemire's award-winning comic book "Tales From the Farm."

"Tales" is part of Lemire's "Essek County" series, and tells the story of Lester, an orphaned 10-year-old who goes to live with his uncle a farm. Upon realizing that he and his uncle don't get along, Lester turns to Jimmy LeBeuf, the local gas station owner, with whom he discovers a love of superheroes, aliens and hockey.

"I've been so involved in films that are primarily based on the action sequences and over-the-top visuals that this to me was incredibly attractive just based on the depth of the characters and the evocative nature of the story," Dykstra told Variety.
