Kate Winslet's “Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society” Early Favorite: Worst Title — 2013

No book or film is good enough to make that title OK.

Kate Winslet is set to star in Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of "The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society," reported the Daily Mail. The book, by Mary Ann Shaffer and her niece, Annie Barrows, was published in 2008, around the time of Shaffer's death.

"The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society" tells the story, via a series of letters, of a group of working-class folks living on the English island of Guernsey under German occupation. When a group of local get caught breaking the Nazi's curfew, they make up the alibi of being in a book club--why the Germans would be OK with a book club and not a dinner party is unclear.

And so they started a real book club and served potato peel pie, because, well, it was the war... Winslet will play Juliet Ashton, a published author who finds herself drawn into the world of the book club via their letters.

Filming is to begin in March.
