Sean Hayes Will Rule Us All

If you’re looking to buy into the revenge business these days, I strongly urge you to invest in one Sean Hayes. It was only weeks ago that Hayes unwittingly found himself at the center of a minor media dustup when Newsweek reporter Ramin Setoodeh openly questioned Hayes’ ability to convincingly play a straight man. Since that time, Hayes has been nominated for a Tony, hosted the Tonys, produced Betty White’s new TV Land sitcom (ratings were massive), and now inked a development deal with NBC. Holy smokes, can someone please motivate me by slandering my sexuality? It really seems to do you some good. From Nellie Andreeva over at Deadline:

(Hayes’ company Hazy Mills) has inked a two-year overall deal with NBC Universal to develop network and cable series. Hazy Mills already has a project in development at USA Network with writer Jeff Rake about a performer who enters into the world of organized crime.

There’s no word on whether or not Hayes would star in any of those projects, which is a shame. Regardless of what Newsweek says, Hayes is a tremendously gifted and versatile actor. Hell, he was good enough to make me okay with being forced by my wife to watch “Will & Grace” on occasion. It takes a special kind of actor to get me to tolerate 30 minutes of Debra Messing every week. Rake has written for “The Practice,” “Boston Legal,” “Bones,” and a handful of other shows. So teaming him up with Hayes, should he star in that mafia idea for USA, could be a good time.

Either way, that is one big helping of crow Hayes is serving up to Setoodeh. That guy will have feathers in his teeth for weeks.
