In a press release announcing the studio's upcoming slate of IMAX films, Warner Bros.' casually mentions that "The Hobbit" will be out in December of 2013.

This may come as news to Andy Serkis, who just told E Online that shooting is about to start.

Who knows? Last month it wa Ian McKellen announcing on his blog that shooting was to start in July.
