Join Walk Now for Autism Speaks in East Hartford

Join NBC Connecticut for the 9th annual Greater Hartford Walk Now for Autism Speaks fundraiser.

The event takes place June 1, 2014 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford and will bring together more than 9,000 participants and supporters of the autism community for a fun-filled day.

The half-mile walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m., and there will be plenty going on for the entire family, including music, dancing, yoga and games. Make sure to come hungry because there will be four food trucks on site.

Sen. Chris Murphy is this year's honorary chair for the event and Autism Speaks National Walk Director Beth Whitehouse will be on hand.

Funds raised will help further Autism Speaks' mission of autism research, advocacy, family services and awareness.

Walk Now for Autism Speaks holds events across the U.S. and Canada.
