Sixth Annual ‘Believe 208' Race In East Hartford To Benefit First Responders This Sunday

EAST HARTFORD— Runners, walkers and supporters can come together for the sixth annual “Believe 208: Run for the Brave and Finest” race on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with NBC Connecticut’s Heidi Voight, who will join Believe 208 and the Connecticut Alliance to Benefit Law Enforcement (CABLE) to kick off the run at 8:30 a.m.

Anyone interested in signing up can do so the day of the race for $35.00. Proceeds provide resources to first responders and families in need as well as help fund education and training efforts to raise awareness about the everyday challenges first responders face.

The 5K, which will begin and conclude at the Knights of Columbus in East Hartford, was founded by Trish Bunchanan, the widow of Officer Paul Buchanan who died by suicide in 2013.

Together, Buchanan and CABLE honor first responders who lost their lives to suicide in Connecticut and work to provide resources, training and information on all aspects surrounding mental health.

A half-mile “Kids Fun Run” for $10 a child will begin at 8 a.m. An awards ceremony will be held immediately following the 5K.
