Drew Barrymore On Her Body: ‘I'll Always Be A Little Bit Of Jell-O On A Pole'

Drew Barrymore may have toned up in recent years, but don't expect Hollywood's most adorable 30-something to change her body much more.

"I don't have the time or discipline or interest in having a perfect-10 body," she told the October issue of InStyle magazine. "I work out, I eat right, but I'll always be a little bit of Jell-O on a pole."

It's those kinds of statements that makes Drew, who just directed her first feature length film, "Whip It," one of the girls. And being one of the girls is a place where she feels at home.

"I like teams – I like buddies," she said. "I don't understand women who are competitive, apart from positive forums like athletics. One person is a powerful thing, but a tribe is unstoppable."

Although trailers for her new film, which stars Ellen Page, seem to hint that the movie concerns itself mainly with roller derby, Drew, who also stars in the movie, said it has another big theme.

"The main love story in 'Whip It' is between the girl and her mother," she said. "I am OK with my dad, but my mom and I have yet to work it all out."

One reason Drew won't talk about her mother, Jaid, is "because… how do you talk about something you're confused about," the actress said.

But she did open up about her style and her need to stay free with youthful clothes and hair styles, despite being 34.

"The older I get, the more I just try things out and have fun and play," she said. "Life is way too short for the nice, low bun – but this is coming from the girl who's wearing the tie-die leggings and a T-shirt with a spider on it."
