Harrison Ford Voted Favorite All-Time Movie President

He’s known for legendary movie characters, including Indiana Jones, Han Solo and Jack Ryan. But it’s Harrison Ford’s role as the President of the United States in “Air Force One” that has America ready to elect Ford to the White House.

In a poll conducted by AOL’s Moviefone.com earlier this week, Ford was voted the Best Movie President for his turn as President James Marshall in the 1997 political action film, taking home 24 percent of the more than 1.1 million votes.

“Never negotiate with terrorists — even if they’ve hijacked Air Force One and are holding your family hostage,” Moviefone noted of Ford’s role in the poll results wrap-up. “Instead, simply take a cue from Bruce Willis in ‘Die Hard’ and pick your captors apart piece by piece. See, the “zero tolerance” policy works — and it’ll get you votes!”

Coming in a not-so-close second in the poll, which ran from Sept. 23 – Oct. 21, with 16 percent of the vote was Morgan Freeman, who played President Tom Beck in the 1998 thriller “Deep Impact.”

“Consider national security our first black president’s forte,” Moviefone.com said of Freeman’s character. “Or rather national survival.”

Michael Douglas’ role as looking-for-love Commander in Chief Andrew Shepherd in “The American President” earned the actor the bronze medal in the poll, finishing with 15 percent of the vote – getting about 7,000 votes less than Freeman.

Should the top three candidates not be able to take their seat atop Capitol Hill, movie fans are ready to turn to Bill Pullman, who fended off an alien invasion alongside Will Smith as President Thomas J. Whitmore in the 1996 blockbuster, “Independence Day.”

“He can deliver one helluva July 4th speech,” said the folks at Moviefone.

Rounding out the top five is a real man of the people — Kevin Kline as Dave Kovic who stepped in for his lookalike President Bill Mitchell after the real president had a heart attack in the 1993 drama “Dave.”

“You won’t find a more ‘common man’ in the oval office than Kovic. After all, that’s just what he is,” Moviefone said of Kline’s character.
