Kate Gosselin ‘Very Hesitant To Believe' Any Reports Of Husband's Affair

Kate Gosselin of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" family appeared on NBC's "Today" show Thursday morning and addressed reports of an alleged affair between her husband, Jon Gosselin, and a 23-year-old woman.

"I'm very hesitant to believe any of it. It goes with the territory," Kate told "Today" co-host Meredith Vieira.

Kate said the matter would remain between her and her husband.

"We're dealing with it privately," she explained. "There are those things we keep to ourselves, and we're working through it together."

Jon, who was at home with the kids, sent a statement, saying, "These allegations are false and just plain hurtful. As I adjust to the attention that comes from being in the public eye, I need to be more careful and aware of who I am associating with and where I am spending my time. But the bottom line is, I did not cheat on Kate. I am sorry for putting my family in this awkward position, given some poor decisions and bad judgment I've made recently. I am working through this difficult time with my family. My family is my top priority."

Kate echoed her husband's sentiments about family, saying, "Our kids are centrally in our focus, they always have been. They are very much loved, very well cared for…that will be how it's going to be."

The mother of eight went on to say that their current headlines will not be featured on their TLC show.

"No tabloid [stories] specifically. I don't know that we're going to sit down and give [it credibility.] We won't sit there and weigh it out there," she said. "You'll see what we feel is healthy and comfortable and safe from our children's perspective."

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Deanna Hummel, the elementary school teacher who allegedly had an affair with Jon, has also insisted there is nothing romantic between her and 32-year-old Jon.

"We're just friends," Deanna previously told People. "It's absurd that anyone would think otherwise."

However, several people reportedly close to the situation insist the affair is very real, according to Us Weekly.

One of those people is Jason Hummel – Deanna's brother.

In coming forward, Jason insisted he was trying to protect his "naïve sister."

"She's a nice girl, not a home wrecker," Jason told Us Weekly. "This isn't healthy for her. But she is refusing to help herself, so here I am trying to help her myself."

To support his story, Jason provided photos and video of his sister with a man that appears to be Jon to the magazine. In the video clip, the man is seen leaving the home

Deanna and Jason share around 7:30 AM on March 13 – a month before Jon and Deanna were photographed together leaving a bar in Redding, Penn.

Jason claims Jon has visited their home on several occasions.

"[They] pretty much stay locked away like two teenagers," Jason said of Jon's alleged visits. "It was weird. He's a grown man."

Jon has admitted to being seen out at a local bar with Deanna – a decision he said "showed poor judgment."

"Like most people, I have male and female friends and I'm not going to end my friendships just because I'm on TV," Jon said in a statement to Access Hollywood. "However, being out with them late at night showed poor judgment on my part."
