Cate Blanchett Suffers Bloody Head Injury on Stage

"She had blood streaming down the back of her head," an audience member said

Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett was left bleeding from the head when her "A Streetcar Named Desire" castmate Joel Edgerton accidentally hit her in the head with a radio during a performance at the Syndey Theatre Company last night.

"She had blood streaming down the back of her head and blood on the back of her neck," a member of the audience told the Australian Associated Press.

The scene called for Edgerton to throw the radio out a window, but "it sort of slipped and hit her in the head," one witness told the Sydney Morning Herald.

The impact reportedly could be heard from the audience and dropped Blanchett down on all fours. She left the stage after about 30 seconds and used clothing backstage to try to stop the bleeding, according to the Herald

"Cate's fine," a rep for the theater company told The Herald. "I've just spoken to her and she's fine."
