Mariah Carey: Nick Cannon “In a Lot of Pain” After Being Hospitalized for “Mild Kidney Failure”

The television personality's condition was first reported by his wife.

Nick Cannon is "in a lot of pain" but good spirits while recovering from what his wife Mariah Carey called a "mild kidney failure."

"As always, he's in good spirits considering the situation," Carey told People on Wednesday.

The pop diva said "the situation is not easy" given Cannon's pain but that his condition was stable.

"We are hopeful that he'll be 100 percent as soon as possible," she told People. "We really appreciate everybody's love and support."

Canon, 31, later tweeted that he was being transferred from an Aspen, Colorado hospital to one in Los Angeles.

"Thank you all for all your love, prayers and concern. You know me ... I will be a'ight," the television personality wrote.

Hours earlier, Carey had posted a photo of her cuddling with Canon in his hospital bed. She posted on her official web site that "we're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful."

"This is us in the hospital - role reversal," she wrote. "Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies [twins Moroccan and Monroe]) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are."

Carey asked her fans to "please keep us and our family in your prayers."
