Ryan Reynolds Named People's “Sexiest Man Alive”

Title comes after wife ScarJo crowned GQ's "Babe of the Year"

There he is, "People" magazine's "Sexist Man Alive," Ryan Reynolds.

The hunky star of "The Proposal" knocked off Johnny Depp in the magazine's annual survey, joining such past honorees as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Richard Gere and Matt Damon. And if being designated the world's hottest guy weren't enough, Reynolds can also boast that his wife, Scarlett Johansson, was just named "GQ" magazine's "Babe of the Year."

"You just have to go with the flow," Reynolds said if his new title. "This gives my family entre into teasing me for the rest of my life."

That could start with Johansson, he acknowledged.

"Now it's going to be, 'Sexiest man, take out the garbage.' That does sound better," Reynolds said. "The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers."

Kim Kardashian, who hosts a special on ABC tonight looking back at 25 years of "People" pronouncements of male sexiness, applauded the choice.

“He’s so handsome, so funny,” Kim Kardashian gushed about Reynolds. “He has the full package, and I think that’s what People magazine really looks for.”

This year, the venerable celeb mag also held a separate five-man competition via Facebook, in which actor Vin Diesel crushed "Jersey Shore" star Pauly D, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, singer Enrique Iglesias and “Old Spice Guy” Isaiah Mustfa.

Reynolds, a native of Canada, previously was engaged to singer Alanis Morisette.

Reynolds edged out fellow actors Leonard DiCaprio, Jon Hamm, Will Smith and Patrick Dempsey for the honor. The 34-year-old actor is set to play Green Lantern in an upcoming adaptation of the comic book. Earlier this year, he starred in the critically acclaimed "Buried," in which he played a man held hostage in a coffin underground in Iraq.
