Stacy Keach Hospitalized, Misses Nixon Stage Role

Veteran actor Stacy Keach has been hospitalized and was replaced by his understudy in a Los Angeles stage production of "Frost/Nixon."

Keach was in stable condition, said Dick Guttman, a spokesman for the 67-year-old actor. But didn't reveal why Keach was hospitalized or provide any further details.

Keach had been starring as Richard Nixon in the Center Theater Group's production of "Frost/Nixon" at the Ahmanson Theatre.

Center Theater Group spokesman Ken Werther says Keach was replaced by his understudy for Tuesday's performance.

Keach is best known for his portrayal of hard-boiled detective Mike Hammer, after making a critically-acclaimed splash on the silver screen as a boxer in John Huston's "Fat City." He has Broadway credits including "Indians," ''Deathtrap," ''The Kentucky Cycle" and "Solitary Confinement."
