Tony Hawk Wants You to Buy His Car

Auction proceeds help build skateparks in at-risk areas

Tony Hawk is selling what he's riding, and it's not a skateboard.

The San Diego native recently announced on Twitter he will auction off a bevy of personal items, among them a customized 2010 DUB-edition "Tony Hawk Dodge Challenger."

Proceeds will go toward the Tony Hawk Foundation, which since 2002 has raised money to bring high-quality skateparks to low-income regions.

"I cannot stress enough the importance of skateparks in high-risk areas," Hawk, 41, said on the auction's eBay site. "They offer kids a safe place to go and something to do that gives them a sense of self-esteem they may never find anywhere else.

"Once communities get their first park, they almost always build more because they see the enduring positive effects they have on kids. Not to mention the parks get used from dawn to dusk."

Other auction items include a Victory motorcycle, VIP experiences and other skate and sports memorabilia.

Online bidding runs from March 1 to 11.
