Brandon Marshall Loses Endorsement Deal Over Anthem Kneel

Marshall has stated his anthem kneel was not intended as a slight against the American military

Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall propelled himself into the national spotlight Thursday night when he took a knee during the playing of the national anthem.

Today, it's costing him.

One of Marshall's endorsement partners, Air Academy Federal Credit Union, announced on its Facebook page it was terminating it's deal with the NFL player because of his public stance, saying they were "not a representation of our organization and membership."

For his part, Marshall made it clear Thursday night following the game and later on his personal Instagram that he was not anti-military, but rather was protesting against social injustice.

The anthem protest, started weeks ago by San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, has slowly gained traction with some fellow NFL players and has even been adopted outside of the NFL, most notably by Seattle Reign midfielder Megan Rapinoe.

Members of the Seattle Seahawks have said they will have a pregame demonstration prior to Sunday's kickoff.
