Carly Rae Jepsen's Hilariously Bad First Pitch

Singer tried to go big when she threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Sunday's Tampa Bay Rays game

She can sing her heart out, but Carly Rae Jepsen would probably be the first to admit she can't throw a baseball to save her life.

The "Call Me Maybe" crooner threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Sunday's Tampa Bay Rays game against the Houston Astros in St. Petersburg, Fla. And by the looks of things, the 27-year-old Jepsen threw a curve ball all right.

Forgoing a full wind-up, the hitmaker reeled back and let 'er rip, but held onto the ball too long, grounding it in the grass a few feet from the pitcher's mound until it rolled weakly away from the batter's box and toward the first base line.

Mouthing the words "Oh my," Jepsen burst out laughing and put her hands to her face in obvious embarrassment.

No doubt she still has some basic mechanics to work on--like how to actually throw!

Though if you ask the announcers on Fox Sports, which broadcast the game and posted the video online, Carly was "throwing strike after strike" during a warm-up.

We'll have to take their word for it.

When she's not vying for the title of the worst ceremonial first pitch ever thrown in Major League history, Jepsen has been hard at work writing and recording her third studio album following the success she had with Kiss, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard charts.

The songstress also made headlines last month after she defended Justin Bieber to Billboard when asked about the flood of negative press her fellow pop star has been garnering lately.
