Concertgoers Injured After Gunshot Rumor Causes Panic During Lil Wayne Show

At least a dozen people were hurt with injuries ranging from sprained ankles to gashes

Lil Wayne ended a performance early after rumors of gunshots caused panic at the A3C Festival in Atlanta.

Police say the rapper was on stage Sunday when a person in the crowd yelled they heard gunshots. People tried to flee.

NBC affiliate WXIA-TV, in Atlanta, reports at least a dozen people were hurt with injuries ranging from sprained ankles to gashes.

Police say there's no evidence any shots were fired.

Lil Wayne tweeted that he hoped everyone was safe.

"This was a very unfortunate way to end what had been an otherwise amazing week of music, friendships, and connections," A3C organizers tweeted after the incident.

The scare at Sunday's festival comes one week after a similar panic struck the crowd at the Global Citizen Festival in NYC. In that incident, someone stepped on a bottle which made a popping sound that spooked attendees who thought it sounded like gunshots. The event in Central Park took place nearly a year to the date that a gunman killed 58 people at an outdoor country music festival in Las Vegas.
