James Corden, Lin-Manuel Miranda Sing Broadway Hits in Carpool Karaoke

Jane Krakowski, Tyler Ferguson and Audra McDonald also joined

James Corden has hit his highest note yet.

The man synonymous with Carpool Karaoke took on the Big Apple for a Tony-themed segment of the beloved late-night sketch. As he navigated the bustling streets of Times Square with Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Tony-winning creator and star of the sold-out "Hamilton," Corden's past and present collided in an all-too-perfect way.

While he may be this year's Tony host and the current musical conductor of the Carpool series, the 37-year-old British native is a 2012 Tony Award winner himself and starred in the silver screen adaptation of the Sondheim musical, "Into the Woods." So, who better to sing along with Broadway's most celebrated stars, like six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald, than this guy?

It was a magical moment as he and Miranda performed a rendition of "Hamilton's" opening act, "Alexander Hamilton." The group, which grew with "She Loves Me's" Jane Krakowski and "Fully Committed's" Jesse Tyler Ferguson, continued belting theater's most memorized songs, including Jersey Boys' "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and the timeless Rent classic, "Seasons of Love."

In between bouts of singing, Corden squeezed in the occasional pressing question. For Krawkoski and Ferguson--who also star on television in addition to their current stage commitments--the late-night host wanted to know which they prefer: "theater or money?"

"I'm literally paying someone to allow me to do theater this summer," the "Modern Family" actor quipped back. "There's nothing like live theater."

As can only be expected of Broadway stars, this round of carpool karaoke came to a close with a dramatic performance of "Les Miserables'" "One Day More"--five-part harmony and all.

Now that's a Tony-worthy performance.
