Joan Rivers Walks Out of CNN Interview

It was clear the E! star was serious as she got up and walked out

It's safe to say Joan Rivers wasn't amused by this CNN anchor's humor.

During an interview with Fredricka Whitfield, the E! Fashion Police host shot back after the journalist called her comments on the show "mean."

"It's not mean. I tell the truth," Rivers said. "I'm sure I say the same things that all your viewers say to their friends sitting next to them on the couch. We're one of the few shows that says 'That's an ugly dress' and that's okay."

As for criticism that Rivers jokes about things that are generally off limits, the comedian said, "Life is very tough, and if you can make something easier and funny do it. I don't know what your life has been like but I know a lot of people who have gone through hell...Winston Churchill said if you make someone laugh, you give them a vacation. And maybe you take the worst thing in the world, make it funny and give them a vacation from horror."

As Whitfield continued to interview Rivers, she mentioned that the funny gal was wearing fur on the cover of her new book, Diary of a Mad Diva, and suggested Rivers knew it would cause a stir with PETA protestors.

"This whole interview is becoming a defense interview," Rivers shot back. "Are you wearing leather shoes? Shut up. You're eating meat, you're eating chicken. Come to me when you're wearing a paper belt."

It was clear Rivers had had enough at this point when she announced she would be cutting the interview short.

"I'm going, because all you've done is negative," Rivers said. "I've made people laugh for 50 years. I am put on earth to make people laugh, my book is funny, I wear fur that was killed 15 years ago, I work for animal rights...you are not the person to interview someone that does humor. Sorry."

Whitfield sat there in shock, thinking that Rivers was cracking a joke. But, it was clear the E! star was serious as she got up and walked out.
