Ronda Rousey Will Attend Marine Corps Ball

"I promised I'd go," Rousey said.

Ronda Rousey is ready to be the belle of the ball.

After suffering her first brutal defeat in a UFC match on Nov. 15 against Holly Holm, Rousey plans to honor her commitment to U.S. Marine Jarrod Hascchert.

"I promised I'd go," Rousey said in a video posted by TMZ

The mixed-martial arts fighter said she was honored to be asked. If she hadn't been asked, she joked she would probably be at home on the couch "crying and eating ice cream for another month."

Haschert, a 22-year-old New Jersey native, posted a Facebook video on his account in August declaring Rousey as his celebrity crush. The fearless Marine then asked Rousey to be his date to the Marine Corps Birthday Ball on Dec. 11.

The video went viral and within the first week it was viewed nearly 5 million times.

"I love everything that you do and I think you are a phenomenal person," said the rosy-faced, North Carolina-based Marine. "If you (consider it), you will truly be making my dream come true."

Lucky for Haschert, Rousey's fight against Holms was moved to November. It was originally scheduled to take place in January.

But then the fight happened.

Rousey, a former judo Olympian, was unbeaten through 12 UFC fights before stepping into the ring with Holms. With just 59 seconds into the second round, Holms kicked Rousey in the head and she dropped.

Ever since her defeat Rousey has kept a low profile.

In an a recent interview with ESPN The Magazine, Rousey said she would agree to a rematch wtih Holms, and may retire after it.

Rousey was unbeaten through 12 UFC fights before her fight with Holms, a former boxer and kickboxer.
