‘The Huntsman: Winter's War' Trailer: Emily Blunt's Queen Freya Wonders Who Is the Most Powerful Queen of All

Snow White is so three years ago.

The first trailer for "The Huntsman: Winter's War," Universal Pictures' sequel to 2012's hit movie "Snow White and the Huntsman," debuted Wednesday and teases what troubles befell huntsman Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) after Snow White left. Previously titled "The Huntsman," the action-adventure film adds two new characters to the mix: Sara, a brave warrior (Jessica Chastain), and Freya, Ravenna's ice queen sister (Emily Blunt).

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, who earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects for 2012's "Snow White and the Huntsman," directed the sequel. Joe Roth ("Maleficent") produced it, and Frank Darabont, David Koepp, Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote the sequel's script.

So, what happens in round two?

According to the Universal Pictures synopsis: "Long before the evil Queen Ravenna was thought vanquished by Snow White's blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya, suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya's ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen—including Eric and warrior Sara—only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love.

"When Freya learns of her sister's demise, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring the Magic Mirror home to the only sorceress left who can harness its power. But once she discovers Ravenna can be resurrected from its golden depths, the wicked sisters threaten this enchanted land with twice the darkest force it's ever seen. Now, their amassing army shall prove undefeatable...unless the banished huntsmen and warrior who broke their queen's cardinal rule can fight their way back to one another."

Other cast members in the upcoming film include Rob Brydon, Sam Claflin, Sophie Cookson, Nick Frost, Sam Hezeldine, Colin Morgan, Edd Osmond, Alexandra Roach and Sheridan Smith, among others.

In August, Blunt opened up to E! News' Marc Malkin about joining the cast. "It was so much fun. I play Charlize's evil younger sister and it was a total queen-off. There were two crowns on set – you don't want that! It was awesome," she gushed. "I love working with all those people."

Blunt added, "Charlize is my new girl crush, for sure."

"The Huntsman: Winter's War" is in theaters Apr. 22, 2016.

(E! and Universal Pictures are both members of the NBCUniversal family.)
