Why is Bay Area Radio Station 105.7 Playing Nelly's “Hot in Herre” on Repeat?

Why is Bay Area radio station Latino Mix 105.7 playing Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” on a constant loop for more than 20 hours now?

The social media world is abuzz with theories.

While most people think it’s a stunt by the radio station, that didn’t stop #Nelly1057 to start trending on Twitter and make it to the top of Reddit.

RadioInsight.com provided an answer to the mystery, posting that “Hot in Herre” marks the end of Latino Mix which will be re-launched as an English-language station “Hot 105.7.

Other stations have also used similar publicity stunts -- also known as "stunting" -- when they launch or switch formats, according to Rolling Stone. Toronto radio station Indie88 played Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" over and over again as it tested its FM signal that was dormant for over two years.

A Facebook page has even popped up for Hot 105.7, and guess what the first post is about? Nelly’s “Hot in Here” of course.
