Kumar is giving his job with the Obama administration a puff, puff, pass.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" actor is leaving his White House job to go back to acting -- specifically to film a third movie in the series about two pot-head friends. EW reported the latest installment will have a Christmas theme and is scheduled to be released in 2011, possibly in 3-D.
Kal Penn famously surprised Hollywood last year when he left his role on the popular FOX medical hit "House" to work as an Associate Director at the White House Office of Public Liason where worked with Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities, specifically arts groups.
Penn's "House" character was abruptly killed-off so the actor could go to Washington.
White House officials declined to confirm the report Friday, saying only "Mr. Modi is honored to serve in this Administration and has no announcements to make about his tenure here at this point," according to Washinton Post. As a public servant, Penn was known by his government name, Kalpen Modi.
The new "Harold and Kumar" will reunite Penn with actor John Cho, who plays the uptight Harold. No word if Neil Patrick Harris is signed on to reprise his cameo as a drug-addled, hooker loving version of himself.
