Backstreet Boys and New Kids Considering Joint Tour

Backstreet's back and this time they've got the right stuff.

Two of the biggest pop bands of the last 20 years, New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys, are in talks with Live Nation to do a joint tour next summer, reports E! News.

Inspired by the recent success of Sly Stallone's "The Expendables," the loud and explosive action flick which serves up a Whitman's Sampler of action stars from yesteryear, the concerts are being imagined as a way to revive a forgotten force in the entertainment world.

"The idea is to recreate the boy band phenomenon," said a source close to the negotiations. "It will be the ultimate ladies' night out."

The two bands have actually taken the stage together once before when the Backstreet Boys made a guest appearance at a New Kids show at Radio City Music Hall in June. The former teen dreamboats performed a rendition of the massive Backstreet hit, "I Want it That Way."

Donnie Wahlberg of NKOTB threw some love to the band that followed in their footsteps.

"As for TONIGHT'S Concert...BACKSTREET BOYS got my respect forever!" he said on Twitter after the show.

That show planted the seeds for the potential tour.

If that's not enough for the bands to give their fans, there may be a third act involved that would push the nostalgia factor through the roof. 90s powerhouse R & B band Boyz II Men is rumored to be at the top of the list if the tour expands.

Instead of reaching the end of the road, these three bands could be finding a new beginning.
