Rebecca Black Suing “Friday” Producers

So let's get this straight: Rebecca Black, who became a overnight internet meme sensation, is now suing the producers of her song "Friday" for...making her an overnight internet meme sensation?

In what has to be the quickest turnaround from "new star" to "embattled music industry vet" in history, the teen singer and her mother, Georgina Marquez Kelly, have threatened a lawsuit against Ark Music Factory claiming copyright infringement and unlawful exploitation of publicity rights.

According to Rolling Stone, Black and her mother are alleging that Ark Music Factory has been exploiting Black's likeness on YouTube, iTunes, Amazon, and their own web site, have created and sold an "unauthorized" 'Friday" ringtone, and have not supplied Black with the master recordings of his song and video.

In an interview with the magazine, Ark Music Factory founder Patrice Wilson denied most of the allegations in the letter. "I have met with Rebecca Black's mom and everything is fine. She will get the masters and the song. They can have it all."

"She's not our exclusive artist," continues Wilson. "Once an artist meets with us and once they blow up, they have a choice to retain us or move on if they can. Rebecca is now signed with someone else."

Kelly reportedly paid Ark Music Factory $4,000 to produce "Friday."
