Shannen Doherty First Out on “Dancing With the Stars”

Shannen Doherty has danced her last waltz.

The "Beverly Hill, 90210" star was the first eliminated from ABC reality competition "Dancing With the Stars," as stumbling TLC mom Kate Gosselin and fumbling astronaut Buzz Aldrin survived the first round of cuts on the program.

Doherty and partner Mark Ballas received the fewest viewer and judge votes, beating out fellow dancing couple Pamela Anderson and partner Damian Whitewood, who landed in second-to-last place when the votes were combined.

Gosselin landed in the bottom three, above Anderson and Doherty.

Doherty said her elimination was well-timed because partner Mark Ballas suffered an injury that wouldn't allow him to continue on the show even if Doherty had stayed in the contest.

"To be honest, I wouldn't want to go on without Mark," she said.

Buzz Aldrin, who had the fewest points at the end of the first dance, will continue to compete on the next show, as well fellow scoring bottom-dweller Kate Gosselin, whose partner Tony Dovolani almost quit on the reality mom last week.

Other surviving dancers include Nicole Scherzinger and Evan Lysacek, who scored the highest in last week's competition among the judges.

Actors Niecy Nash and Aiden Turner, a soap star, also earned their way to the nex tround, as did "Bachelor" Jake Pavelka, ESPN commentator Erin Andrews and NFL player Chad Ochocinco.

The show will resume next Monday, as the remaining stars continue in the competition.
