Yale Grads Take Home Oscars

Less than two years after graduating from Yale’s School of Drama, Lupita Nyong'o is an Oscar winner.

She is one of two Yale gradates to win Oscars last night.

Robert Lopez, a 1997 Yale graduate, won the award for best original song for “Let It Go” from “Frozen.”

Nyong'o won best supporting actress for her role as Patsey in “12 Years a Slave,” the film that also took the award for best picture.

During her speech, she thanked Yale’s drama school for her training.

Yale, in turn congratulated Nyong'o.

Fellow Yale graduate Adam Stockhausen, class of 1999, worked on production design for “12 years a Slave.“   The film was nominated for the award, but “The Great Gatsby” won.

Robert Lopez shared the Oscar for “Let It Go” with his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

Meryl Streep, class of 1975, is another esteemed graduate of Yale. She was nominated for best Actress for her role in "August: Osage County."
