This summer, love is in the air—and the water—at Mystic Aquarium.

Along with being home to a magnificent variety of sea creatures, from sharks and stingrays, to lots of vibrant fish, the aquarium also opens its doors to couples seeking a wedding or reception venue.

Tying the knot here is unique, needless to say—who else can say their guest list included beluga whales and penguins?

“It’s a really magical experience,” according to Mystic Aquarium’s Amanda Wheeler. “It’s a once in a life-time opportunity for you, and it’s a one of a kind venue.”

Couples in the past have invited penguins to their weddings (Just don’t get mad if they don’t respond to your RSVP). And next year, one adventurous pair is even getting married underwater, taking their vows to whole new depths.

Of course, couples can tailor their experience to craft their dream wedding. From offering multiple food options, having a plated event or a buffet, to figuring out the right atmosphere, an intimate gathering or an extravagant celebration, Mystic Aquarium and Ocean Blue Catering offers professional services and support to make your big day flawless and memorable.

“Your ceremony can be out by our beluga whale exhibit,” Wheeler said. “Your reception can be right on the main floor; all your guests are sitting amongst the most gorgeous sea creatures.

Mystic Aquarium has the only beluga whales in New England, and it’s one of only three U.S. facilities holding Steller sea lions. There are various habitats and interactive exhibits: here, you can hold a crab in the Discovery Lab, feed a stingray at the Ray Touch Pool, and even pet a shark at Shark Encounters. And now, you can get married, too.

Experience the beauty and magic of nature’s most marvelous marine animals at Mystic Aquarium, and come celebrate your new life with a splash.
