NBC Universal, Inc.

The Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz is set to return to the capital city this July.

The mayor and members of the Greater Hartford Arts Council and the Hartford Chamber of Commerce made the announcement at noon.

Last year's Jazz Fest was all virtual due to the pandemic but the 2021 festival is scheduled to go on in-person from July 16 to 18.

The festival, which will be free, will begin on Friday, July 16 with a concert by Dennis Edwards' Temptations Revue.

Bronin called the festival Hartford's signature summer event and said it is coming back "better than ever."

He said the even draws thousands to Bushnell Park to enjoy music for free.

When asked about the economic impact of the festival, Bronin said he did not have exact figures, but it is big.

The city will continue with street closures this summer to make it easier for businesses to operate, the mayor said.
