Pink's Hot Dogs Opens Saturday at Lake Compounce

Pink's Hot Dogs, a Hollywood Legend since 1939, will be coming to Lake Compounce this weekend.

The one-time hot-dog cart has become a Hollywood landmark with a star-studded group of fans. In May, the one and only location on the East Coast will open at the Bristol, Conn. amusement park and it will be across from the carousel at Lake Compounce.

"Their long standing history, family-oriented culture and guest service (make) them a perfect fit for Lake Compounce," Lake Compounce General Manager Jerry Brick said in a statement. "The story of how they started is really neat, and now it's probably one of the most famous hot dog stands in the country."

Some of the signature hot dogs on the menu will include the “Lord of the Rings,” which is topped with barbecue sauce and onion rings; the “Martha Stewart,” with relish, onions, bacon, chopped tomatoes, sauerkraut and sour cream; as well as the “Giada,” which is piled high with sautéed peppers, onions and mushrooms, chopped tomato and shredded mozzarella.

If you are a fan of the "Today Show," Pink's also named one after the morning NBC program. It has two hot dogs in one bun, mustard, onions, chili, cheese and guacamole.

There are also more traditional hot dogs, vegan dogs, burgers and fries.

"Bringing Pink’s to Connecticut is like having a little bit of Hollywood on the East Coast" co-owner Richard Pink said in a statement. "We love that our hot dogs have been made famous in TV and movies and are the favorites of countless movie stars who visit our Hollywood location, and we're excited to bring that fun and delicious experience to Lake Compounce for their guests to enjoy."

The grand opening will be on Saturday, May 17, marked with a Weiner Dog 100 featuring Dachshunds racing for the Fastest Hot Dog title.
