Connecticut's Top Grinder Just Got Better

Nardelli's, the local grinder fave is opening another restaurant

Grinders, hoagies, heroes, po-boys and subs -- no matter what you call them, the sandwich has been the staple American meal since, well, forever. And with so many places to chow down on one, it’s seems nearly impossible to pick your “go to.”

Well, there is certainly no debate for Connecticut residents (who call it a grinder, in case you were wondering).

Nardelli’s Grinder Shoppe has been voted #1 grinder by Connecticut Magazine for nine years in a row. With three locations solid and thriving, the Nardelli family has decided to open a fourth restaurant.

The new restaurant will open in a former golf store in the Union Square shopping plaza at Peter Road and Main Street South in Southbury. The other locations are in Waterbury and Naugatuck.

Nicknamed “The Grinder Kings,” Nardelli’s, dates back to 1922 when three brothers wanted to start a grocery store. It’s been in business for more than 80 years and their grinders are anything but average.

No processed meat slapped on some Wonder Bread here. Rather, the restaurant offers more than 40 different grinders featuring tasty combos like pastrami and hot sauce, prosciutto and hot pepper, and crab salad and shrimp.

So, if you have ever suffered a case of the sandwich blues, Nardelli’s will be your “hero” to the rescue (no pun intended)!
