10/19: Dinner and Some Shows

MOVIE NIGHT:  Sure you could turn your brain off, and check out the new Jackass movie (and we wouldn't blame you if you did).  Or you head to Real Art Ways in Hartford for a more cerebral evening of cinematic entertainment.  First, at 5 p.m., enjoy some "Cairo Time."  The movie, starring Patricia Clarkson and Alexander Siddig, tells the story of a fashion magazine editor in her 40s who goes to Egypt to meet her husband for vacation.  But when he's delayed, she falls for her husband's former colleague who was sent to show her around.  Once that show ends, stick around for some "Freakonomics" at 7 p.m.  The documentary is the film version of the bestselling book about incentives-based thinking.  And like the book, the film uses hilarious case studies as they examine human behavior.  Tickets for each movie are $9.

DEAL WITH IT:  He's got the best dreadlocks for a white guy this side of Adam DuritzCitizen Cope is bringing his follicle prowess along with his musical prowess to Toad's Place in New Haven tonight.  Cope, who's real name is Clarence Greenwood, is a growing star in the indie-folk world.  One of the most unique artists in music, Cope's style has been described as acoustic blues, soul, reggae, folk and little bit of rock `n' roll.  But if you want Cope to describe his music, you're out of luck.  He says you just have to listen for yourself.  So, hop down to Toad's (sorry, couldn't resist) to hear what it's all about.  Tickets are $25.

TUESDAY TASTES:  A delicious dining experience awaits you in Glastonbury tonight.  Head to J. Gilbert's after work for a little happy hour to help you end the day on a high note.  The J. Gilbert's happy hour runs from 4-6:30pm and features appetizer and drink specials including $5 apps, martinis and wine for under $6 and draft beer for $3.
