1/11: Show Tunes, Hip Hop and Pep Bands

OH MAMMA:  It's time for everybody's favorite Swedish Broadway hit to make it's way to Connecticut.  Featuring 22 of ABBA's greatest classics (like Dancing Queen, The Winner Takes It All, Super Trouper and Take a Chance on Me), Mamma Mia! has become a worldwide musical phenomenon.  Starting tonight, they're taking the Broadway show (which weaves the music into a story about love, laughter and friendship) on the road to the Shubert in New Haven.  Tonight through Sunday, there are 8 performances of the show (including a pair of matinees this weekend).  Tickets are $15-$75.  Click here for more info.

WU TAKE 2:  So remember that pesky little snowstorm we had right after Christmas?  The one that crippled airports up and down the East Coast?  The one that had the the networks proclaiming "Snowpocalypse?"  Yeah, that one.  That little tiny dusting of snow put a wrench into a lot of people's plans; including the Wu Tang Clan and the good folks at Toad's Place.  Tonight, they're making up for lost time.  The legendary hip-hop group (yeah we said legendary.  They launched the careers of Raekwon, Method Man, Masta Killa, RZA and others.)  They've been called one of the best hip hop groups of all time, and have influenced countless other acts.  Tickets for their 9:30 p.m. show are $40.  All tickets from their postponed show will be honored.

HOOP IT UP:  On paper, it has the makings of a fairly easy "W" for the Huskies.  Oh, but that's why they play the game folks, that's why they play the game (just ask the Saints).  Tonight, the 8th UConn Huskies (men's basketball this time around) take on the unranked Scarlet Knights of Rutgers in a Big East Battle at the XL Center.  Kemba and the boys will look to avoid the upset against the Knights (we'd call it an upset anyway, even though they're tied in the Big East right now).  Tickets are $30.  Tip of is at 7 p.m.
