11/17: Superlatives

MID-WEEK WEEKEND:  It's only Wednesday, but the Weekend is kicking into high gear tonight in New Haven.  Head to Toad's Place tonight to see teen sensations, "Allstar Weekend."  If you haven't heard of the band, ask your tweenage relatives.  They'll tell you all about their high-energy pop-punk style.  Tickets for tonight's 5 p.m. show are $18.

MEDIUM RARE:  Ever wonder what happens when you die?  Where do you go?  What does it feel like?  Acclaimed medium and clairvoyant Lisa Williams can try to help you answer and understand some of your questions tonight.  Williams is appearing at the Palace Theater in Waterbury to share her knowledge of the spirit world.  She'll also perform live readings with the audience.  Leave you healthy sense of skepticism at the door and just enjoy the ride.  Tickets are $35-$65.  The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

THE EXTENDED COUNTDOWN:  No guarantees, but there may be a holiday-themed event (be it Christmas, Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Kwanzaa or even Festivus) every night between now and New Years Day.  In that vein, we give you the Connecticut return of Trans-Siberian Orchestra.  They've already brought their act to Connecticut once this early-holiday season, and tonight they're back at the Mohegan Sun Arena for a quintessential show filled with lasers, pyrotechnics and state-of-the-art over-the-top lighting.  Tickets are $51-$61.  The show starts at 8 p.m.
