11/26: Talking Turkey

Burn the Turkey? Forget the marshmallows on the sweet potatoes? Tried a low-fat pumpkin pie recipe? Hey, Thanksgiving dinner disasters happen.  And that's why restaurants stay in business. Tonight, you can get some great Turkey Day deals at some of your favorite eateries.

MILLING ABOUT:  The Mill on The River in South Windsor is offering a fixed-price Thanksgiving menu. For just $19.95 ($17.95 for kids), you can enjoy Turkey, ham, sauerbraten, prime rib and salmon entrees.  And then there's the squash bisque, Blue Point oysters and Point Judith clams and of course an assortment of pies and cheesecakes for dessert.

SEEING GREEN:  It's about indulgence at Cafe on the Green in Danbury. Enjoy a four-course Thanksgiving meal for just $42 per person. Here's a taste of the menu. First course:  Penne ala Vodka or Shrimp Cocktail. Second Course: Mixed Salad. Third course has a choice of entrees that includes Lamb, Veal, Swordfish, Salmon, Snapper, Fillet, Linguine and of course Turkey.  And top it all off with dessert.

TRATTING FOR TURKEY: La Trattoria in Canton is back with the annual Thanksgiving dinner. For $36 ($18 for kids), you'll dine on a multi-course classic Turkey dinner. Full birds are carved in front of your eyes and there's all the traditional trimmings, including mashed potatoes, gravy and pie. It's as close to homemade as you can get (perhaps even better).

ROOM AT THE INN:  It's Thanksgiving buffet style at the Griswold Inn in Essex. For $32 ($18 for the wee ones), you get a seat for a bountiful spread of salads, a carving station packed with turkey, prime rib and pork loin and fixings like stuffing, mashed potatoes and veggies. Oh yeah, there's dessert too (Indian pudding and pie).

A STUDY IN DINNER:  Head to New Haven's Theater District if you need a tasty Turkey Day Meal. Yale University's Heirloom at the Study has a three-course prix fixe menu. The meal features options like lobster bisque, oysters Rockefeller, fresh carved turkey, roasted salmon and desserts that include pumpkin pie and apple crisp. It's $40 per adult, but space is limited, so call ahead.
